El Porvenir de Cafayate, a winery owned by the Romero-Marcuzzi family, is a faithful exponent of the new viticulture of Salta. With more than 15 years making high-end wines.
The old winery is located in the town of Cafayate and the family has 80 hectares of its own vineyards located at 1,750 meters above sea level. Cafayate is a region that naturally offers the ideal conditions for the growth of exceptional vineyards due to its unique climate of sunny days, low humidity and thermal amplitude between day and night due to the altitude. The winery is dedicated to the production of small quantities of wines, limiting its production to 300,000 bottles. Like all large wine producers, the family believes that quality begins in the vineyards, so it maintains a methodical control and care throughout the process, until harvest. Family tradition, the Cafayateño terroir, innovation, respect for the environment and a look to the future are the five pillars that guide the work of this winery.
MoreThe family, Romero Marcuzzi, began its commitment to the world of wine when Roberto Romero anchored his first winery four decades ago in Tolombón, a few kilometers from Cafayate.
There, between vineyards and long summers shared as a family, the pillars of this project were cultivated: a strong commitment to the place, great dedication to work and a great love and respect for the terroir that has grown throughout all these years. . It was in the wide galleries of that old winery where Lucía, Roberto Romero's granddaughter and current Director of El Porvenir de Cafayate, took her first steps.
At the end of the nineties it was decided to undertake a new project targeting a high-end market, designing a winery to produce few batches of very high quality wine.
With this clear objective, they acquired a century-old winery located in the center of Cafayate, which they updated in infrastructure and technology, restoring old 65-year-old vineyards of Torrontés, Malbec and Tannat with great success. During that time, they planted Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot vineyards on a new estate, among other varieties.
Today the winery rooted in Cafayate is in charge of Lucía Romero Marcuzzi, who works together with an outstanding team following the legacy of her ancestors with a marked innovative drive. To proudly show in each of its wines the imprint of Cafayate for Argentina and the world.
