Hervé Joyaux Fabre, owner and winemaker of the Fabre Montmayou winery, was born in Bordeaux, France, and comes from a family of wine merchants. When he arrived in Argentina in the 90s, looking for investment opportunities, he was impressed by the potential of Malbec and decided to buy a vineyard in Mendoza and create a winery.
Like a true visionary, he bought old Malbec vines, planted in 1908, and made Fabre Montmayou the first “boutique winery” in Argentina. Once the Mendoza winery was created, Hervé decided to buy a vineyard and a winery in Río Negro, Patagonia. The cool climate of this southern region, combined with a unique terroir allows you to create great wines, with a different style than the wines produced in Mendoza.
His passion and knowledge did the rest. Together with his wife Diane they produce exceptional wines that have achieved international recognition and are appreciated in more than twenty countries. Hervé with his team makes the wines with a meticulous approach to ensure that each step of the process is carried out according to his instructions. Once the wines are ready, Diane is in charge of the commercialization in the International markets and the follow-up with the clients.

As one of the pioneers of great Malbec in the 1990s, Hervé J. Fabre developed his line of Fabre Montmayou wines around this variety. However, the range has expanded over the years to include other very interesting grape varieties that demonstrate the incredible potential of these wine-growing regions. The quality of all Fabre Montmayou wines is a true testament to the incredible talent of Hervé and his team in illustrating the extreme versatility of Argentina.
Hervé's philosophy is that the wine must respect the expression of the fruit and the vine. Constant care during the barrel aging phase also follows this philosophy. In their wines the fruity character predominates, French oak is used as a support to provide a certain complexity but it is not predominant.
