In the 1990s, Mendoza-born Manuel Mas returned to his birthplace and established Finca La Anita, directed against his mother. This was one of the pioneering wineries in Argentina that focused on producing premium quality wines at a time when most of the industry was volume. Finca La Anita is located in the Alto Agrelo region, south of Mendoza, known for its specific agroecological conditions, which include rich alluvial and clay soils and great thermal amplitude. The average altitude is around 1,000 meters above sea level. and the sources of irrigation are snowmelt from the Andes Mountains and nearby underground wells.
The estate comprises 72 hectares with various planted varietals, such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The vines are an average of 30 years old and are planted with the original graft. The vineyards are harvested by hand.
