Located in the Argentine province of Mendoza, WEINERT Winery & Cavas was built in 1890 by the Spanish immigrant Ramón Otero and founded in 1975 by the Brazilian German-born Don Bernardo Weinert. The mission of those who carry the art of wine in their surname and give their family business its name has been sustained for more than forty years: to produce high quality wines.
The architectural ensemble of Bodega & Cavas de WEINERT refers to the landscape of Italian villas. Among its unique pieces, the largest barrel in use in the country stands out, built in French oak, with a capacity of 44,000 liters. Since 1996 the production has been in charge of the Swiss winemaker Hubert Weber who, at just 27 years old, came to Luján de Cuyo to stay.
The brick building where the winery works is located a few kilometers from the city of Mendoza. With a symmetrical facade and built on land that used to feed vineyards, it is inspired by Italian Mannerist architecture and amazes with its monumentality. The patronal house that maintains original openings, ceilings and floors is also preserved; as well as an ancestral pepper tree that sprouts majestically between both constructions. Bodega & Cavas de WEINERT produces its wines in this dreamy place, where traditional methods coexist with the present and the artistic meets the industrial. Between the challenge of what is manufactured and respect for the land as its origin.
MoreUntil 2017, the winery accompanied the aging of Malbec in the oldest barrel in the world for 23 years. Its harvest and vinification correspond to Don Raúl de la Mota, considered the best winemaker of the 20th century in Argentina.
The celebration of wine recalls its connection with the times of the world as a setting, in which the drink reflects the dark slumber of the earth that receives the rains and dew from the sky. Thus the encounter between heaven and earth dwells in the wine, the fruit of the vine, a fruit in which the nourishing element of the earth and the sun of heaven are entrusted to each other.
