Daniel Pi is chief winemaker at Trapiche, one of the largest local wineries. He has a deep knowledge of traditional and innovative oenological practices, being in permanent contact with agronomists and oenologists from the New and Old World. From the academic and scientific point of view, he was a full professor at the Don Bosco Faculty of Oenology and a researcher, giving conferences and symposia in different parts of the world. Together with colleagues from other countries, he is the founder of the only scientific enology journal on the Internet (www.vinidea.net) published in 5 languages.
"Tres Catorce Vinos de Garage" is Daniel Pi's "most intimate" project, since so far very little is known about him. It started in 2009 with two barrels of homemade wine that they bottled under the brand “Tres14 Tinto de Garage”. Called "garage" because they are produced in the garage of his house and 3.14 in reference to his own surname. It was specially devised and conceived by himself, to be carried out together with his young children Daniela and Gonzalo, or, as he says, to "share" with his family. In this way, your son participates during the elaboration process and your daughter, as a designer, takes care of the aesthetics.
“The goal was for them to earn some money by selling it to their friends. The point is that afterwards the wines began to obtain excellent marks from the most important wine critics in the world ”. - Daniel Pi
MoreThe garage wines of famous winemakers appear as a business model with peculiar characteristics. Daniel bets on two extraordinary wines: the first Tres14: a Malbec, "so interesting, with a lot of personality, that it summed up a bit the value of the family behind all this," says Daniel; and the second, El Imperfecto, a name that I hoped to give a wine a long time ago is a Malbec from Gualtallary, Valle de Uco, which stands out for its concentration, balance and complexity - what makes it called "imperfect" is the cut made with 3% Cabernet Franc and 97% Malbec -, it is ideal to accompany Patagonian lamb, provolone, lentils and peppers.
Daniel's wines are personal, frank, genuine, honest, with a good quality of grapes, and made with a lot of love and care. Distinguishing itself among the high-end wines of any of the wineries where it operates.
