This Bonarda has a deep violet color with bluish tones. On the nose it is rich and complex, with intense ripe blackberries, raspberries and black cherries, accompanied by dark chocolate, liqueur and Cabernet Franc notes of fresh and aromatic herbs. On the palate, a sweet entry leads to a wine full of ripe red and black fruits mixed with subtle licorice and vanilla. Long and persistent finish with fresh, crisp acidity and soft, velvety tannins.

About Aleanna

The Aleanna winery, later known by the name of its wines, El Enemigo, is a pioneering company formed by Adrianna Catena, the youngest daughter of Nicolas Catena and Alejandro Vigil, the chief winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata for the last 13 years. Holder of the first 100 Argentine Parker points, it has turned the area into one of the most coveted wine tourism destinations in Mendoza.

It produces one of the best wines in Argentina and also one of the best Cabernet Franc wines worldwide. This is because the Gualtallary region has almost perfect conditions for Cabernet Franc.

The winery represents the passion and vision of a new generation, a continuation of innovation and the drive for excellence.

Its main wine Gran Enemigo Gualtallary belongs to a single vineyard, located in Tupungatito, the northernmost sub-region of the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The sub-region has an incredible altitude, with its own volcano, which erupted in 1987; as such, the soil abounds in deep calcareous matter perfect for growing Malbec and Cabernet Franc at high altitudes, over 1,430 meters in the case of the Gualtallary vineyard.

His wine 'El Enemigo' symbolizes man's battle against himself, the original enemy, the battle that defined each of the owners of this winery. It is a wine of great structure and concentration; a cut that inspires and recalls the good times of the past and brings the historical and artisanal aspects of the cultivation of the vines and their vinification.

Gualtallary may be the great Argentine treasure, capable of Grand Cru vineyards that can compete with the best wines in the world. Adrianna and Alejandro have chosen to use such a high dominance of Cabernet Franc in honor of an old style from the AOC Pomerol region.

Soon these wines from Bodega Aleanna el Enemigo will bring many successes to the visionaries who gave them life.

In addition to its charismatic mentor and the quality of its wines, the El Enemigo winery is distinguished by the unusual architecture of its main building, inspired by the Divine Comedy and with a labyrinthine distribution where the rooms identified with the chapters of the book of Dante Alighieri

The aging and production winery is small compared to the social part, named Casa El Enemigo and in 2015 added to its attractions a rogue and informal restaurant, Casa Vigil Chachingo.
