About Alandes

Alandes, (word combination of "Wines from Along the Andes") is one of Karim Mussi's projects, who along with his partners, found a beautiful old winery, to develop new brands and styles without the restrictions of producing wines from grapes of/from a single terroir. Every label of Alandes is driven by an individual concept, that represents absolute freedom, a "Laize Faire" winemaking philosophy that is spread in an extensive territory without boundaries.

Karim Mussi Saffie is a winemaker and entrepreneur by vocation and training. His family has been linked to the wine trade foro ver 30 years. From the beginning, Karim wished to trascend by basing his winemaking on three fundamental pillars: innovation, terroir awareness and vineyard sustainability. His obsession to find the most pure fruit, seeking for a unique identity through original old vine rootstocks, has led him to achive a terroir driven concept, blooming in each wine. This results in wines, notable for their balance, elegance and aging capacity as his signature style.

In 2007, he was recognized with the award “Outstanding young people from Mendoza” by the Consejo Empresario Mendocino in the category “Commercial achievements, economics and business”. His Altocedro Malbec Reserva was chosen as one of Wine Spectator “Top 100” Wines of 2008.
