This place in Salta was chosen by Matías Etchart for its viticultural conditions and the beauty of the place. He planted the vines himself in 2013 and today he is producing wines that dazzle critics around the world. Tim Atkins recently highlighted this wine with 95 points out of 100 in his report on Argentina and the terroir at 2100 meters above sea level.

This Cabernet Sauvignon is floral, refined, with aromas of fresh herbs and black fruits. It has silky tannins and a pleasant, subtle and long-lasting finish. It has 14.6% alcohol and was fermented and matured in new French oak barrels.

Arca Yaco is a small winery with difficult access located in the Quebrada de San Lucas. To get there, you leave Cafayate heading to Cachi and when you reach San Carlos you turn west, looking for the foothills. After a long stretch of gravel road, you arrive at a small town of just about 20 adobe houses called San Lucas. You pass the little town, drive along a dry river bed, and finally climb a steep hillside to the winery.

About Amar Y Vivir

Coming from a winery family, Matías Etchart grew up in vineyards. His grandfather, Arnaldo Etchart, founded the [eponymous] winery in the 1930s. Then his father and uncles continued with the winery but in 1996 it was sold.

In 2010, 14 years after the sale of the “Etchart” winery, Matias bought the Arca Yaco estate, in Quebrada de San Lucas, a vineyard located in a very special terroir.

Located in a new area that he discovered in the Calchaquíes Valleys in Salta, north of Argentina. The Quebrada de San Lucas is 2,100 meters above sea level. The soils are calcareous, there is very fresh water of great quality, which comes from the melting slope of the Andes mountain range.

In 2013 he planted his first vineyards and in 2015 he harvested.

He put Amar y Vivir in his first wine. Amar y Vivir was the name of a bolero that his uncle Arnaldo, whom he loved very much, managed to sing like no one else. This is how Matias Etchart lives wine, since it has always given him great pleasure and good times. That is why he chooses as the name of his second label: Imagine the sweet sensation that wine gives. That is exactly what wine is for him.
