Winemaking is defined in the vineyard, it is there where the location, soil, climate and the chosen variety have a decisive influence.
All the vineyards where the grapes come from to make Potrero Wines are located in Gualtallary, Valle de Uco. Its soils are composed of a high percentage of stones. So the roots must work to find their way to moisture. This results in wines with unusual concentration and minerality. When it comes to the special characteristics that this small and privileged region brings to its wines, the personality, texture and natural acidity stand out, as well as the freshness and the aromatic character, almost wild.
There are 4 small farms (between 3.4 and 4.6 hectares) neighboring each other, with similar but not identical soil profiles and sun exposure. Malbec and Cabernet franc are obtained from them, with which 100% of red wines are made. The vineyard management of the 4 farms is identical in philosophical terms, but they are divided by very well defined parcels. Each plot has identified special characteristics and is worked so that its fruit is destined for a particular wine.
