Description

The Stella Crinita winery was born from Ernesto and Joanna's love for natural wines that speak to the soul and heart. After starting to cultivate biodynamically in 2002, when especially in Argentina this was seen as little more than witchcraft, they have decided to free their wines from each and every one of the restrictions and take them to their maximum expression by jumping to a complete natural winemaking, with the launch of the 2017 vintage.

The winery is symbolized as a comet on our farm and is part of the universe that we create in our vineyard. A biodynamic plantation is an entity that functions within itself and with absolutely no need or desire for anything artificial, as all soil and plant treatments are based on natural remedies.

Making natural wine is the ultimate expression of our ideology and of what we believe in, and we are proud to begin a new chapter in our wine world with all of Stella Crinita's natural wines. Our wines are rooted in creative vision, hard work and a love for nature and humanity. Our vineyard, located at an altitude of 1100m, in the Uco Valley, is a magical place. Surrounded by trees, the vines live in symbiosis with sheep, horses, donkeys, cows, chickens and us. Its clay soils with deep buried stones are blessed by the cold, pristine water that comes every summer from the snow-capped Andes Mountains. We believe in treating the land, the vines, and our community with respect and care.

About Ernesto Catena Vineyards

Ernesto Catena trained in economics in the United States with a master's degree in design in Italy. Today Catena brings a new vision to the Argentine wine industry that fights for a place among the most outstanding in the world.

Ernesto Catena sees his mission as transforming viticulture into a true art. Growing up in a ruby world, in each bottle he makes, or rather creates, he puts his aesthetic gaze first. He defines himself as a hedonist, a passionate man and a lover of beauty. Perhaps that is why it is almost as complex for him to make a good wine as it is to design a good label.

His style, how could it be otherwise, is diversity, the constant search for the best grapes, wherever they are; then selecting different vineyards for different varieties, where the terroir and climate indicate that they would achieve their best expression, choosing small producers to collaborate with them and work together to obtain the best grapes and thus achieve wines with their own identity.

All this, and something more, encompasses this new Ernesto Catena Vineyards project, where once again, his viticultural identity and his love for the land of Mendoza are reflected in great wines. They are New World wines, lively and at the same time extravagant that have the hand of an author, tireless traveler and connoisseur of different vineyards in the world.

Ernesto, passionate and sensitive, has a philosophy of making ultra-premium quality wines. The winery undoubtedly has a very particular audience, which is in search of something different, innovative.
