The Torrontés is the only 100% Argentine strain, it is the result of a cross between the Moscatel de Alejandría grape and the Listán Prieto red grape, also known as Criolla Chica.

In Argentina, there are three variants of Torrontés: the Mendocino, the Sanjuanino and the Riojano. The latter is the most cultivated and the one with the best qualities for making wine.

The terroirs where this variety is best adapted is the northwest of Argentina, in the Calchaquíes Valleys.

The Torrontés on the nose is very aromatic and floral, and on the palate it has very good acidity which makes it a very fresh wine. It is a very versatile variety when it comes to pairing, since it can be accompanied with fresh dishes in summer or accompanied with the traditional salteño locro or some exquisite humita pastries.

Torrontés is not sweet, it is a dry wine, but it can be made as a sweet if its producer wants it.
