In the 30s of the last century, "Don Domingo" had made famous a red cut that was marketed in Buenos Aires in the most recognized restaurants of the time. "He made his wine with the best fruit from his Maipú and Rivadavia vineyards, to which he also added dark and concentrated grapes from his vineyard in the Uco Valley, at that time almost unknown to the rest of the winemakers." Therefore, it is a historic reissue of "that acclaimed wine, a blend of Malbec and Petit Verdot".
Both labels proudly display the legends "Historic White" and "Historic Tinto". But the third wine of the DV Catena Appelation line has its own history, but in this case due to the presence of a strain such as Garnacha, which has always been treated disparagingly but it must be said, Alejandro Vigil has found an elegance in it. Which brings it up to par, for example, of a typical Pinot Noir.
We recall that the winery had already entered with a D. V. Catena Clarete, also to honor "Don Domingo", but now it is doubling down with a one hundred percent Garnacha varietal with Lunlunta Appeal. This word, in the Huarpe language, means "stone that falls". The area extends along the course of the Mendoza River, "north of the hills of the same name, between Luján de Cuyo and Maipú."
